More Reason to Doubt the Claims of Pharmaceutical Companies

A University of Sheffield researcher faced disciplinary action from the University for releasing her research without the consent of the pharmaceutical company that sponsored the research.

According to the university, this breached the contract they had with pharmaceutical company Sanofi-Aventis to conduct research on the osteoporosis medication Actonel.

So let me get this straight: A pharmaceutical company contracts a university to do unbiased, third party research on one of its products. But the university cannot release their findings without the consent of the company selling the product. I'd bet my house that the company is eager to approve research with positive results but rarely if ever approves the release of research with negative outcomes.
