How to Become Vitamin D Deficient

Low serum levels of vitamin D have been linked to increased rates of obesity, diabetes, many cancers, autism, hypertension, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, depression, and other mental illnesses (1). In fact, vitamin d is so powerful that some scientists have postulated that serum levels alone account for many of the health benefits of the very popular Mediterranean Diet (2).

Many lifestyle traits of the typical American ensure that almost every responsible adult will have low levels of vitamin d. To help you gain weight, get depressed, develop insulin resistance, and increase your chances of heart disease just follow this common nutrition and lifestyle advice:

1) Stay inside and avoid the sun, particularly between ten and two when it is the strongest.

2) If you have to go outside, use sunscreen, the higher the spf the better!

3) Eat only fat free dairy products.

4) Throw out your egg yolks! Eat just the whites.

5) Avoid animal fats in general.

If you'd rather avoid diseases such as depression, hypertension, etc., , please visit the Vitamin D Counsel online. They offer links to much of the current research as well as home blood tests you can use to determine your current vitamin d status.
